Poses
This is an excellent video on drawing many different poses and also in the idea of developing new poses based on stick figures before committing to actually drawing the pose. Students will draw all 15 of these poses plus a title page with all of the stick figures. There is a daily grade for every day of this project and students will draw 2 poses a day except for day one when we will the title page and one pose. The final project will also receive a test grade. Due to the time lapse used in this video I have moved to drawn examples, but the video is a available for view.
Bad and good stick figure from the video. You need this on your introduction page, see below.
All the stick figures from the video, you need this on your introduction page and will be adding page numbers for each figure above or below the stick figure.
Poses Directory and Good Stick Figure Notes
This is the beginning page for the Poses Project. Make note that all stick figures are 3 lines tall in a standard rule journal. That is exactly what I expect to see. Do not make tiny stick figures. Above the figure is the page number that the figure will appear on in the Student Interactive Journal. Those page numbers may change from year to year, so be sure your page numbers are correct for your journal. Also remember to update your Interactive Journal's Table of Contents adding the page numbers and Poses as the title.
Day 1 dancer skeleton
You draw the stick figure larger and then turn it into a skeleton. Make joints out of circles or in the case of the knees ovals. Draw a line for where you want to eyes to be looking. He is tilted to the side so the rib case is a bit to the right.
Dancer Mannequin
Add bulk to the figure by drawing on either side of the bones you drew for legs and arms. Be sure to start thick at the shoulders and go thin to the elbow. Start thick at the elbow and go thin to the wrist. The same thing is true from pelvis to knee and knee to ankle. Don't forget the neck.
Dancer finished figure
Add details to the figure. Add fingers, a face, hair, knee caps, pecs and define the feet a bit better. We are not doing clothing, but you are welcome to add clothes to add a fun flare. I have had students convert to female gender and that is fine.
Day 2, Falling Man Skeleton
Sometimes I draw the pelvis as round and at other times I use the triangle. Draw the one that works for you. I turn the journal sideways for the falling man. Be sure to put the stick figure in the corner before you begin.

I went a bit to far before I took this picture. I started the face and hands. Also, I notice the page does not have a title, it should be Falling Man.
